    This course aims to guide the target audience towards better understanding of the Toyota Production System (TPS) which is behind the philosophy of Lean Manufacturing. It will cover Lean principles and applications leading to better utilisation of space, labor and machinery, in turn resulting in cost reduction and shortened lead time. It also touches on some of the more common process- related tenets of Lean Manufacturing and the strategies necessary to support them such as standardisation, problem-solving techniques and PDCA (plan, do, check, act).

    The subject comprises of six chapters as follows:

    • Current State of the Garment Industry
    • Toyota Production Methodology
    • Waste Identification
    • Continuous Flow
    • Supporting Strategies & Concepts
    • Lean Roadmap

    This unit is delivered through lectures, video and simulated activities.

    • What concrete steps do you take on your next lean journey?
    • Creates a culture in which everyone in the organisation continuously improves processes and production.
    • Lean initiatives as focused on and driven by customers, both internally and externally.
    • Better understand some of the more common process-related tenets of lean manufacturing and the strategies necessary to support them.

    ENTRY REQUIREMENT

    Possess at least 3 GCE “O” level passes including English and Mathematics or ES WSQ Workplace Literacy and Numeracy (WPLN) level 5 and above.

    GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS

    Participant will be awarded the WSQ Statement of Attainment (SOA) provided he/she meets the following requirements:

    • 75% attendance rate
    • Assessed to be competent in given competency standard

    CERTIFICATE ISSUANCE

    Upon succcessful completion of the course, trainee will be awarded the WSQ Statement of Attainment (SOA). WSQ Certification is nationally endorsed and recognised by industry partners
