AIMS:
To provide the knowledge and skills required to join polyethylene pipe safely using Electrofusion techniques as well as to enable learners to acquire the knowledge and skills to competently install Water Meter Systems.
OBJECTIVES:
Gas & Electrofusion
- Understand Electrofusion Techniques and the Benefits
- Understand Water & Gas Piping on site & safety implications when carrying out Electrofusion
- Examining alternative machines for fusion of MDPD and LDPE pipework and fittings
- Testing and commissioning of PE pipe
- Understanding installation procedures of mains pipework and connection to water meters
- Work in accordance with Health & Safety regulations

- Acquire knowledge about Water Meter Systems
- Identify the different types of metering
- Acquire knowledge about the installation of metering systems
- Recognise the need for meter repair and maintenance

- Carry out the Electrofusion process in accordance with Health and Safety requirements

METAC Training is the largest energy training and assessment centre in Ireland and the UK and trains approximately 2,700 people annually. Their realistic training facilities equip people with practical skills for the modern workforce that are nationally recognised by FAS/SOLAS, FETAC/QQI, City & Guilds, UKAS, Bord Gais and OFTEC, amongst others. In September 2010, They invested and installed a 16 metre 6KW wind turbine and accompanying Photovoltaic systems at Their centre which was supported and grant aided by Laois Partnership Ltd. making us the first and only training centre to do so. This facility now allows us to expand Their renewable energy training to incorporate wind training.
On completion of Their cTheirses all participants are equipped with practical skills that are nationally recognised by FAS/SOLAS, Bord Gais, City & Guilds and OFTEC.
