Victorian Certificate in Applied Learning (Intermediate) specialising in Hospitality and Tourism

Course details

This program will give you the Intermediate VCAL plus two trade certificates - the Certificate II Hospitality (Kitchen Operations) and the Certificate II Tourism. The VCAL program will give you an introduction to the hospitality (back of house or cookery) and tourism industries. You will develop hands-on skills in food production, meal presentation and food hygiene. Learn how to work in teams, plan and cater for events and give tours. You will also learn basic first aid, responsible service of alcohol and basic camp site planning. You will gain practical experience by organising an overnight camp.

On successful completion of this program learners are eligible for the three awards of Intermediate VCAL and the Certificate II in Hospitality (Kitchen Operations) and the Certificate II in Tourism.

The VCAL units of literacy, numeracy, personal development and work skills will be integrated into the learners training. Special focus is on Engagement – with Self and Community and Work-Ready Skilling.

Trades-related projects through service learning have included the Longest Lunch, the Paddock to Plate camp and fundraising activities. Practical Placements are also embedded into the program.
