Course details
This course provides the participant with the fundamental knowledge and practical understanding on interpreting details on Piping and Instrument Diagrams, Process and Engineering Flow Scheme and process schedules and specifications. Participants will gather and understand the relevant information in standard operating manuals applicable to area of work.
Course Outline
Interpret details on piping and instrament diagrams (P&IDS)
- Engineering drawings and specifications that relate to plant and equipment
- Schematic diagrams and drawings.
- Procedures for accessing and analyzing manufacture’s drawings.
- International standards, codes of practice and company specific conventions, symbols and abbreviations.
- Procedures for determining the sources of information.
- Data from P&ID.
- Reporting lines and procedures
Interpret details on a process and engineering flow scheme (PEFS)
- Engineering drawings and specifications that relate to plant and
- equipment
- Schematic diagrams and drawings.
- Procedures for accessing and analyzing manufacture’s drawings.
- International standards, codes of practice and company specific
- conventions, symbols and abbreviations.
- Procedures for determining the sources of information.
- Data from PEFS.
- Reporting lines and procedures
Interpret information from process schedules and specifications
- Relevant regulations, safe working practices and procedures required
- within the work area, and the information and documentation systems to maintain them
- Procedures for locating and accessing of process schedules/production
- targets
- Procedures for locating and accessing process specifications (quality)
- Procedures for checking correct specifications are the only ones in use
- Procedures for handling out-of-date process schedules and
- specifications, reporting procedures and documentation required
- Design parameters of equipment and processes
Use relevant information in standard operating manuals applicable to area of work
- Relevant regulations, safe working practices and procedures required within the work area, the information and documentation systems to maintain them

Requirements
Candiates must be able to:
- Understand and speak English
- Demonstrate maths proficiency
- Successfully complete an assessment test conducted by CPTC
