The BIFM Level 4 Diploma in Facilities Management offers a middle management level qualification, suitable for those working at an operational management level, or aspiring to do so. The qualification is professionally recognised and designed to meet the needs of the Facilities Management workforce.

As a vocational course, you will have the opportunity to develop a broad understanding of Facilities Management, whilst combining theory and practice to develop a range of knowledge and skills relevant to the sector.

Having worked closely with industry partners and the British Institute of Facilities Management (BIFM) City of Glasgow College are delighted to be the first Scottish provider to offer the BIFM level 4 Diploma in Facilities Management.

You will attend workshops at the college every 4th Friday, complemented by distance learning between workshops.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Minimum entry requirements

  • Any relevant Scottish Group Award at SCQF level 6. 
  • Any two National Qualifications at SCQF level 6 together with three passes at SCQF level 5 or above. 
  • An SVQ at SCQF level 6 in a relevant area of Facilities Management. 
  • Combinations of relevant and equivalent qualifications from other awarding bodies. 
  • Relevant work experience. 

WHAT YOU STUDY

The BIFM Level 4 Diploma in Facilities Management at City of Glasgow College is delivered via 10 units. These are:

  • Overview of facilities management. 
  • Understanding facilities management strategy. 
  • Understanding people management in facilities management. 
  • Understanding facilities management support services operations. 
  • Managing health and safety in own area of facilities management. 
  • Understanding financial management in facilities management. 
  • Understanding facilities management projects. 
  • Managing customer service in facilities management. 
  • Understanding sustainability and environmental issues and the impact on facilities management. 

AFTER THE COURSE

Careers

This course provides opportunities to develop a range of knowledge and skills relevant to a managerial role within the facilities management sector.

Continuing study

Successful students may progress on to:

• BIFM Level 5 Diploma.

• Qualifications at SCQF Level 8.

TEACHING

How the course is taught

The course is delivered over a 12 month period, starting in March 2018.

Its delivery utilises the full breadth of expertise from across the College's specialist Faculties and industry partners. The course will be delivered via a blended learning approach, which combines online learning and intensive workshops and seminars.

Assessment methods

As a work based qualification assessment will focus on reflection and experience in the workplace and be carried out through a range of methods including case studies, personal reflection, essays and reports.

You will be encouraged to utilise your own experience, using examples from your role within the facilities management sector.
