This course is for experienced interpreters looking for a fast-track way to prepare for the DPSI exams. The course is via distance learning only. As such it can be started at any time, freeing you from both start and completion dates. Giving you complete flexibility and allowing you to work at your own pace fitting it around your other commitments.
The DPSI qualification recognised at national and European level in order to work in Public Service Interpreting.
This is a first-degree level qualification (Level 6).
Students who gain the DPSI qualification will be able to apply for registration on the National Register for Public Services Interpreters (NRPSI Ltd.) and will be able to use the initials DPSI after their name.
Length of course: – you decide, with no fixed start or completion dates, you can join at any time and take it as fast or as slowly as you choose.
Enrolment and registration for the course is subject to successfully passing the initial interview and assessment.
Available via an ADVANCED LEARNER LOAN, the fees include: all exam fees, all resources including research books, interpreting theory reference book, past exam papers for your language pair, training materials and study tasks resulting in no initial cash outlay.
The examination consists of the following modules:
- Interpreting using consecutive and whispered techniques
- Sight translation from and into English
- Written Translation from and into English Updated on 20 January, 2018
Eligibility / Requirements
This course is for people who speak English and at least another language fluently and who have some experience interpreting professionally. Please note you will have to undertae a short assessment to ensure you are ready to enrol on the intensive DPSI preparation course, rather than the longer course.
