Course details

Did you know that the job market for a phlebotomist is one of the fastest growing industries out there, with a 20-30% growth predicted over the next ten years?

Phlebotomy, also called blood draw or venipuncture, is the surgical practice of using a needle to take blood from a vein. A licensed phlebotomist can work in medical centers or blood drives, where they use their skills in phlebotomy to take blood from patients which are then sent to a laboratory.

This course is your first step towards becoming a certified phlebotomy technician. Whether you are an aspiring student or already a licensed phlebotomy technician, you can get the steps for how to provide a successful venipuncture attempt from start to finish. While this course will not provide you with a formal qualification to practice professionally, it is a great starting point.

Taught by former army nurse and medic Mark D. Ingram, you'll learn the importance of your phlebotomy technique, how to greet patients, how to perfect your tourniquet, and step-by-step the process of drawing blood from a vein.
