Course details

This course provides participants with knowledge of features, tools and capabilities of the basic Uniformance R200 Process History Database (PHD) system on Windows 2000 including configuring the process history database, monitoring and troubleshooting system operation, managing archive files, and managing user privileges. Database backups are discussed. Hands-on exercises provide practical experience performing all the major PHD administration and management tasks. The course does not discuss migration or installation topics.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

At the end of the course, participants will be able to optimize process history data collection, storage, and retrieval. Participants will also learn how to configure Parent (Class) tags for ease of tag configuration and maintenance, design and configure Real Time Data Interfaces (RDIs) for optimum data collection and minimize data storage requirements.

COURSE OUTLINE

  • Recognize the role of PHD as well as the major hardware and software components and learn how data flows through the PHD system
  • Configure Robust Data Collection
  • Use system tools to monitor and troubleshoot system operationInstall Uniformance Clients: TPI and Desktop
  • Retrieve data from the PHD archive utilizing the data retrieval options and engineering unit conversion capability
  • Configure collection, virtual and manual input tags, with and without parent tags
  • Configure tag data processing options to minimize data storage requirements
  • Create user defined engineering units
  • Troubleshoot tag configuration problems
  • Build custom calculations and functions (virtual tags)
  • Enter and edit data which is not collected or calculated (manual input tags)
  • Monitor and manage long-term archives
  • Configure and test a Real Time Data Interface
  • Use the bulk tag loader utility
  • Configure PHD security including users, roles, permissions, menu access, and passwords
  • Retrieve PHD data using standard query tools

PRE-REQUISITES

PC/Windows environment, familiar with Microsoft’s Excel or Access. Knowledge of your plant process and DCS tag.
