Course details
Ransomware is a form of malware that, once it's taken over your computer, threatens you with harm, usually by denying you access to your data. The attacker demands a ransom such as money. Ransomware is spreading rapidly, which is scary when you consider it is one of the few malwares that makes itself known to the infected end user or system to pay up for the encrypted files.
This course goes over the tools and techniques you can use to reverse engineer malware. We'll discusses how to use reverse engineering to better understand malware, and demonstrates how to approach static and dynamic malware analysis. In the last part of the course, we'll do a case study where we will do a real-world example of ransomware, the devastating WannaCry malware, using this case study to help you better understand how malware functions.
