Course details
Students get involved in the knowledge of toxicity to organ systems, mechanisms and management thereof (central nervous system, liver, respiratory tract, kidney, blood and blood forming organs, reproductive system). Drug addiction, toxicity of pesticides, animal and plant poisoning, toxicity of heavy metals and forensic toxicology. The practical course includes the detection of toxic compounds and/or toxic metabolites in body fluid and tissues as well as test systems used to study mutagens or to directly investigate the impact of free radicals and reactive compounds/metabolites on genetic material.

German university in Cairo/Deutsche Universität in Kairo has been established in 2002 in cooperation with the State Universities of Ulm and Stuttgart, under the patronage of the Egyptian Ministry of Higher Education, the Ministry of Science, Research and Arts, State of Baden- Württemberg, Germany, and supported by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), the German Embassy in Cairo, the Arab/German Chamber of Industry and Commerce (AHK), the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, Germany, The State University of Tübingen and The State University of Mannheim.
