    This full time PLC (Post Leaving Cert)is designed to equip learners with an extensive knowledge of the tourism industry to enable them to independently and effectively carry out a range of information, administrative and service functions in tourism related enterprises or to progress to further/higher education and training. The course offers skills-training suited to the multi-faceted tourism industry. The opportunity is provided to enahance ones culinary skills through the preparation and serving of a three course meal one day a week. Work experience is an integral part of the course - commencing with one day per week and a two week block placement in the second term. Learners participate in a number of field trips.

    Entry Requirements:

    • Successful performance at interview
    • Leaving Cert (traditional or applied)
    • Other qualification at NFQ Level 4 (e.g. FETAC Level 4 Award)
    • Mature students with appropriate vocational experiences

    Progression:

    This award facilitates entry on a competitive basis to a range of third level institutions nationwide leading to awards at the next or higher levels of the National Framework of Qualifications. Career prospects include: Customer Service, Administration, Sales Store Assistant, Data Entry, Call Centre.

    South Tipperary Vocational Education Committee (VEC) is one of 33 VEC’s established under the Vocational Education Act 1930 – 2001.Their remit as the state provider of education for the County is the provision of a comprehensive range of quality education programmes to meet the needs of the community they serve.
