Course details
This course focuses on the necessary skills required for all of the sectors in the Travel and Tourism industry. During this course the student will develop the Training skills needed in both practical and theoretical areas, including travel agency, airline crew and reception, guiding, tour repping and other areas of the tourism and travel industry, including cruise liners. These skills acquired on the course are required in order to succeed in these exciting Tourism Sectors.
The course is designed to provide students with the up-to-date IT skills needed and students work at their own designated work station.
Students can also avail of an opportunity to travel overseas on the course as part of work placement and in conjunction with the European Partnership scheme run in the College.
Certification is achieved through QQI.
The course welcomes applicants of all ages. Progression to a second year is available to attain QQI Level 6 Award and further International Certification. Progression also exists from St John’s Central College Travel and Tourism course to CIT first year.

Entry Requirements
- Leaving Certificate (5 passes)
- Leaving Certificate Applied or equivalent
- Applicants of mature years will be considered on their merits.

Progression
- On successful conclusion of level 5 Award students may progress to Level 6 Tourism with Business Award 6M5012
- The Tourism and E-Travel Course has a formal agreement with the CIT College facilitating our students entry directly to the first year of their respective degree courses
- Students can also apply to a range of Higher Education Institutions through the Higher Education Links Scheme
