This 45-hour course program is an excellent choice for students at an intermediate level who need to take the TOEFL iBT (Internet Based TOEFL) test. This course provides ample activities to enhance learners’ language abilities and expand their language proficiency.
The course builds on the specific skills and strategies for the TOEFL iBT test. This includes enhancing listening, speaking, reading and writing skills using interactive and communicative methodology. The tasks for each skill area will be analyzed in depth, enabling the students to recognize the goals and skills required for various tasks. Learners will be given extensive practice with the TOEFL iBT exam during the course. Test takers will practice intigrating, or combining, two or more skills. Questions that assess integrated skills require test takers to; read, listen, then speak in response to a question; listen, then speak in response to a question; or read, listen, and then write in response to a question. These new questions measure the ability to use English to communicate effectively and succeed in an English-speaking academic environment.
- Applicants are required to pass the Standardized English Proficiency Test (SEPT) and score level ENGG411 or the equivalent TOEFL 39-40.
- Applicants are required to have basic computer literacy.
Two assessments on each skill. Continual assessment in these courses provides feedback to learners on their progress. Faculty members should record the final exam score and where necessary convert it to a letter grade.
