Course details

Starting from a conventional or unconventional reservoir this course takes delegates through the journey of oil and gas as it is processed for transportation, refined and delivered to the consumer. The programme contexts each part of the hydrocarbon supply chain and generates familiarity with the overall industry as it changes to find its place in today's world.

What's Special About This Course?

This course is run by Howard Thomas, a highly accredited and professional chemical engineer who has worked on hydrocarbon installations globally and delivered multi-million dollar competency programs for the new LNG assets in Australia under the Clough AMEC banner. As well as designing the programs, Howard also delivered the foundational training from physics and chemistry to full scale LNG optimization. He is widely recognized in his field, and being pursued by many energy companies. You will have the chance to not only learn the fundamentals of practical process safety but have a chance to speak and network!

Also, remember that this course is operated by WorleyParsons, a key and widely recognized player in the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) ;

Course Overview

Reducing our carbon footprint will transform the 55 trillion US dollars petroleum industry. Oil and gas supplies around half of the world's energy demand that continues to increase. How do we meet demand in a carbon-constrained environment? This course is a timely overview and update on the petroleum industry.

You will Learn How to

Delegates will understand the basic principles of the oil and gas industry and the issues that dominate today's industry, not theoretically as in a technical education, but practically from a real world operational point of view.
Delegates will learn:
  • Basic understanding of conventional and unconventional formations
  • Working principles of the equipment used to produce and transport oil and gas (including LNG)
  • The differences between onshore and offshore production and processing
  • Gas treatment process
  • Oil separation process
  • Water treatment process
  • The changing role of oil and gas in a sustainable energy future.
Topics

Communication is all important when it comes to developing a productive culture. This course was developed simply to help staff understand what technical personnel were talking about. It is very hard to provide good support and guidance if the people providing the advice do not understand the basics of the industry. This course will give you a basic overview of oil and gas production process, and associated utilities. You will learn how oil and gas is located, how the reservoir produces and flows via wells and how the oil and gas is processed and transported to the consumer.
