Course details
Conducting a successful geographic information systems (GIS) project can be very difficult and the biggest reason why projects cause frustration and stress and often fail is because they do not have a structure that will successfully move the project from conceptualization to conclusion. I developed these six steps to provide that structure for my students, and every GIS course that I teach—from the introduction to the most advanced—fits within this six-step structure. I believe that being able to follow these six steps on every GIS project is, at its core, what it means to be able to "do" GIS.
This course is recommended for anyone who needs to be able to use GIS to successfuly answer a question or solve a problem. It is for people who are about to start a GIS project, as well as those who have found themselves "stuck" in the middle of a GIS project and need to know how to move the project forward.
