  • Allocating storage zones and sections
  • Factors affecting space allocation
  • The storage operation information system
  • Operational procedures and practices for imports and exports
  • Operational procedures and practices for in-terminal and interchange movements
  • Safety and security rules relating to the container yard.

Course Objectives:

This Unit is designed:

  • To describe the storage operation and to explain its importance in container terminal operations.
  • To describe the principles of container yard layout and facilities.
  • To describe the container yard address system.
  • To describe the import and export stacking rules and practices.
  • To discuss the planning of container yard operations.
  • To describe the movement of containers into and out of storage and the related information and administrative systems. 
Port Training Institute (PTI) was established on 26th of July 1982 as an affiliated institute to the Arab Academy for Science, Technology & Maritime Transport (AASTMT).
