Join us on this 2 day course and learn about the principles of textile design techniques. Through a series of presentations and short practical exercises you will learn about the properties and construction of fabrics, and explore a range of design production techniques. Your tutor will introduce you to a variety of design processes from colour usage, repeat patterning to hand and digital printing techniques. You will also have the opportunity to look at the many possibilities of designing with weave, knit and stitch. During the workshop you will make a simple loom to create your own hand woven fabric samples.
By the end of the course you will have a better understanding of the different constructions and properties of fabrics and print techniques used within the textiles, fashion and interior design industries. This will give you the confidence to communicate with trade. The textile techniques learnt may also be tailored to your own practice, giving it a bespoke touch.
