Course details

Students study towards the internationally-recognised Cambridge English Language Assessments and the Cambridge International Certificate in IT Skills (validated by University of Cambridge International Examinations, CIE).

What will I learn?

First Year

Foundation Studies in English and Information Technology. Students study towards the internationally-recognised Cambridge English Language Assessments and the Cambridge International Certificate in IT Skills (validated by University of Cambridge International Examinations, CIE).

Second Year 

In year two, students undertake a general level 3 (EFQ) programme in information technology that prepares them for technical roles in supporting users in organisations. There are mandatory units in the operation of help-desk environments, networking, hardware and software installation, systems support and troubleshooting.

Third Year 

In year three, students undertake more specialist units in IT technical support and they are able to select a pathway that specialises in systems support roles or in network support. There are a core of mandatory units relevant to all IT support roles such as the interaction with customers, change control management, troubleshooting etc. Depending upon the pathway chosen, students will undertake further units in systems security, wireless networks, systems administration, software migration etc.

How will I benefit form taking this course?

The programme provides students with an introduction to the skills, methods and technologies deployed in supporting IT systems and users in the modern business organisation.
