A Facilities Management VRQ offers a range of units covering services such as building maintenance, energy management, resource management, environmental protection, procurement, security, reception and customer care.
The BIFM Level 3 VRQ Certificate in Facilities Management is aimed at those:
- undertaking a facilities management apprenticeship
- performing first line management roles in facilities management and wish to develop and enhance their skills and knowledge
- recently appointed to a facilities management role
- working in supervisory role that wish to progress to a more senior position

Entry Requirements:
There are no formal entry requirements for candidates undertaking this qualification, however candidates must have the potential and opportunity to gain evidence for the qualification in the work place and ideally should be employed in a first-line management or supervisory role in facilities management.
You will have learned your skills on the job or by training courses and your assessor will help you to identify if there are any skills gaps which need to be filled.
Course Delivery:
The Facilities Management VRQ is a knowledge based qualification, delivered through work based assignments.
To achieve the Certificate in Facilities Management, learners must achieve a minimum of 31 credits.
This is made up of 15 credits from Group A, plus:
- Five credits from Group B
- Eight credits from Group C
- and three credits from Group D
Mandatory Group A
- Level 2 Develop working relationships with colleagues - three credits
- Level 3 Provide and monitor facilities for client - six credits
- Level 4 Develop and implement a risk assessment plan in own area of responsibility - six credits
Optional Group B, select five credits
- Level 3 Contribute to the management of incidents and emergencies - five credits
- Level 3 Monitor and solve customer service problems - six credits
- Level 3 Set objectives and provide support for team members - five credits
- Level 3 Procure supplies - two credits
Optional Group C, select eight credits
- Level 3 Manage facilities management projects - six credits
- Level 3 Operate security measures - three credits
- Level 3 Monitoring operational performance - five credits
- Level 3 Maintain property and assets - five credits
- Level 3 Contribute to disaster recovery and contingency planning - five credits
- Level 3 Manage space - six credits
- Level 3 Carry out energy management - six credits
Optional Group D, select three credits
- Level 4 Understanding sustainability and environmental issues and the impact on facilities management - three credits
- Level 4 Provide leadership and direction for own area of responsibility - five credits
- Level 4 Implement change in own area of responsibility - six credits
- Level 4 Specify, commission and manage external contracts and agreements - nine credits
- Level 5 Recruit staff in own area of responsibility - four credits
- Level 5 Manage a budget for own area or activity of work
