The Supervision in Early Childhood Care Level 6 Minor Award will provide the learner with the skills, knowledge and competence to develop supervisory and leadership skills necessary to lead, motivate and promote best pactice in an ECCE setting. It also enables the learner to assess needs and to develop solutions for the ECCE setting.
Learners who successfully complete this coures can progress to the full Major Award for ECCE & Supervision or the Early Childhood Care & Education-ECCE & Montessori qualifications.
How will learners benefit from the course:
- Understand and Analyse relevant theories with regard to leadership and supervision and relate this to the ECCE settings
- Identify and analyse the required roles and skills of the supervisor in an ECCE setting that would ensure best practice.
- Research and apply strategies of motivation.
- Identify and employ strategies that will overcome barriers to effective supervision in the ECCE setting.
- Familiarise learners with the procedures and policies relevant to the ECCE settings and develop methods for implementation of these policies.
- Encourage the learner to reflect on their own supervisory skills and to assess and implement the training needs of their team.
This Supervision in Early Childhood Care Level 6 Minor Award is suitable for those who work as Childcare Facility Owners, Managers, Supervisors or those individuals involved in or new to Childcare and who wish to gain a Valuable Professional Qualification in this field.
The Entry Requirements are:
- This course is open of all with relevant life/work experience.
- Holders of Childcare Level 5 or related courses.
- For those with a significant professional interest in Childcare.
- Those who wish to gain a nationally accredited award as a Childcare Supervisor.
- English Language Proficiency Test where deemed appropriate or an IELTS score of 5.0.
A combination of module appropriate assessment procedures will facilitate the assessment of learning outcomes of this course. These methods will include a combination of continuous assessment processes such as assignments, collection of work, learner records, projects and skills demonstration.
