Course details

The National Qualification in Strength and Conditioning is open to application from fitness professionals who hold a recognised, valid and current primary fitness instructor qualification that is accredited or mapped at EQF Level 3 or higher.


Not all primary fitness instructor qualifications meet the minimum standard required. If your primary fitness instructor qualification does not meet the requirements NTC will be unable to award a certificate for this programme even if you have completed it so if you are in any doubt whether your qualification meets the requirements please submit a copy of your primary fitness instructor qualification at least two weeks prior to the start date or contact the NTC prior to enrollment.

Following successful completion of this course, learners will be able to:

  • Analyse and interpret functional movement patterns to enable optimial exercise performance and reduce risk of injury.
  • Apply the principles of periodisation, congugate method and multi-year training specific to strength and conditioning coaching.
  • Perform and coach advanced weight lifting movements to include olympic lifts.
  • Perform plyometric training techniques that will help improve power, strength, speed.
  • Integrate assistant exercises to complement the strength and conditioning programme.
  • Develop specific programmes to enhance an Individual’s performance whilst reducing their risk of injury.

Assessment:

  • Observed formative and summative practical assessment of Olympic lifts and plyometric exercises.
  • Multiple choice theory exam.
