State Body And Public Sector Audit Committees - Role And Evaluation Institute of Public Administration - IPA
Price: EUR 240

    Course details

Audit Committees are an integral part of the corporate governance framework of today’s public sector. Generally the purpose of an audit committee is to review an organisation’s corporate governance, internal control environment, risk management and financial statements and provide support to and monitor the work of the internal auditors. Depending on the sector the committees report on their work to either a board of directors, a Secretary General of a government department or, in the case of local authorities, to the Council.

This workshop provides an overview of the role and benefit of public sector audit committees. The themes explored will draw on the Institute’s strong experience of providing training to the members of audit committees and internal auditors across the public sector. The workshop has been developed for members of audit committees. It would be of benefit to senior public sector managers and internal auditors who would like a broader understanding of the role of audit committees. Also it is ideal for those who are new members of audit committees.

    Content

The workshop will cover the following areas:

    • The Audit Committee Charter/Terms of Reference
    • Audit Committee Role, Responsibilities and Relationships with Key Stakeholders
    • Audit Committee Evaluation
    • Internal Audit and Risk Management

    Workshop Leaders
