Course details
Overview:
The purpose of this course is to provide advanced configuration and management of the ERS and VSP series of stackable switches. In the 7D00085I, Stackable ERS & VSP Installation, Configuration and Maintenance course, you will learn how to install, configure, and maintain stackable ERS and VSP platforms. This course includes the following switch families: Ethernet Routing Switch 4500, 4800, 5500, 5600, 3500, 2500, and Virtual Service Platform 7000 switches. In this course you will install ERS software, configure Layer One through Layer Three protocols, configure security, Quality of Service, and identify how to use these products to support a voice over IP infrastructure.
Objectives:
- Upon completing this course, the learner will be able to meet these overall objectives:
- Locate and download documentation and technical specifications for ERS switches.
- Describe and follow processes for stackable ERS installation, software installation, and upgrades
- Describe and use the tools, interfaces, and methods used in configuring the Ethernet switches.
- Design and configure the network for resiliency at Layer 1, Layer 2, and Layer 3
- Configure spanning tree and port-based VLANs using VLAN configuration control options.
- Configure ERS stackable switches for resiliency.
- Configure IP routing on a stackable ERS using RIP and OSPF protocols.
- Configure IGMP snooping and proxy on edge switches.
- Configure PIM-SM on the ERS 5000 series switches.
- Configure device and network security.
- Configure QoS for traffic prioritization and security
- Configure convergence features such as PoE, 802.1AB, and automatic detection and configuration of Avaya IP phones
- Identify which management tools should be used to manage and troubleshoot networks with stackable ERS switches.
- Monitor stack health and interpret display indicators.
