    Course details

The Certificate in Digital Marketing has been designed to upskill participants involved in, or who wish to become involved in, the marketing and communications function of industries across all sectors. E-commerce skills and social media skills have been identified as the main technical marketing skills required across the ICT, Financial Services and all enterprises trading internationally. Marketing teams will require a broad selection of new digital skills to stay competitive including basic coding and web design. This course will equip participants to meet these skills shortages with modules in E-Business and Web Authoring, Marketing and E-Marketing.

Strong communication skills such as presentation and writing are and will remain valuable to companies of all sizes, but the technical tools and platforms used to communicate in these ways are beginning to penetrate every aspect of our lives. While today’s digital marketer may fare well enough in specialising in overall branding execution those who neglect the skills required in the technical/creative process will find themselves at the wrong end of the digital talent gap in the future. Marketing teams will require a broad selection of new digital skills to stay competitive. The industry needs people who can do everything from crunch data to create media. Technical skills such as basic coding and web design will soon be requirements for a half of all marketing hires, according to online form building platform Formstack. E-commerce data analysis will also be in high demand, as research predicts a shortage of managers globally with data expertise by 2018. Large companies have been identified as having particular need for entry-level social media marketers, and mid-tier managers in content marketing and web analytics.

Upon completion of this course participants should be able to explain and discuss the principle theories and frameworks and identify key issues and challenges of marketing in current business environments. Participants will be able to identify the opportunities created by an online business, and adapt traditional marketing methods to an online business context to develop strong digital brands and long-term customer retention. Participants will also be able to design a functional website to drive a company’s e-business strategy which reflects prospective customers’ and buyer behaviours.
