Course details

This course is a course. A typical week consists of the student being on campus for four days where the theory and practical elements of the course are covered. On the fifth day the student will be based in an industry setting to complete their work experience module. Students will be given extensive training in instruction techniques and are encouraged to seek work placements in gyms or leisure centres to supplement their learning. Classes start at 9.00am and run up to 4.00pm, students are encouraged to participate in college sports activities which are generally held on Wednesday afternoons.

Course content may be revised for educational or organisational reasons.

Sports

Students can participate in a variety of sports at Higher Education Level. These sports may include: Gaelic Football Soccer Hockey Basketball Rugby

The following sports are also catered for at Leinster Schools and/or CDETB Level:
Cross-country, Track and Field Athletics, Swimming and Golf.

Career Opportunities

Options for graduates from this course such include: Working with National Governing Bodies, Sport Development Officers. Gym Instructors.

Many of our students progress to the Higher National Diplomas that are offered at Inchicore College of Further Education. On successful completion of this course, students can use this certificate to fulfil the entry requirement of having passed a higher level Leaving Certificate subject.

Students may also avail of the Higher Education Links Scheme to access courses in many Institutes of Technology. Our Career Guidance department will guide you through the steps involved.

About Inchicore College of Further Education

Inchicore College of Further Education is one of the biggest providers of further education ctheirses in Ireland and has been at the fore front of further education development since 1984. The college offers a wide range of ctheirses in a number of disciplines: Theatre and Dance, Care Services, Child Care, Sports & Leisure,Ttheirism and Creative Arts.
Facilities at the college include computer rooms, internet access, gymnasium, language laboratory, canteen, two dance studios, recording studio, student library, college theatre, study facility. 
The Sports Hall and leisure complex incorporates a P.E. hall, new gym, aerobic studio, crèche and all-theyather pitches.
All ctheirses are offered to full FETAC certification allowing further progression though the Higher Education Links Scheme. Many ctheirses also offer BTEC Higher National Diploma certification.
Students participate in many sports and cultural activities throughout the academic year and there are also opportunities for foreign exchanges with students from France, Italy, Spain and other EU countries.
The college offers a friendly and supportive environment and qualifying students are eligible to apply for the PLC Maintenance Grant. A full career guidance service is available as theyll as counselling, educational and special needs support services. Applications from adults and those wishing to apply to the VTOS scheme are also most theylcome.
