Spa/Ukpia - Safety Passport (Petrol Station Site Operators)

Course details

This course is designed for Petrol Station Site Operators to receive general health and safety awareness and understand the specific hazards associated with working in the petrol-retailing environment.  It also gives a more in depth understanding of contractor hazards and how documentation should be reviewed by both parties prior to work commencing.

COURSE CONTENT

Introduction & the law - an overview of health, safety and environmental legislation applying to employers, including legal duties and enforcement. This session also focuses on the importance of risk assessment.

General workplace safety - requirements surrounding: access/egress, housekeeping, work equipment, electricity, safety signs, display screen equipment, hazardous substances and manual handling.

Emergency arrangements and procedures - the importance and legal requirements with regards to fire, first aid and accident reporting.

Hazards and control measures on a petrol filling station - types of hazards, hazardous areas and zones, safe working practices, and Contractor work control measures and documentation, including an understanding of safety method statements, clearance certificates and the operators' role, under the approved code of practice for work on filling stations.

Petrol station operators and managers.

CERTIFICATION

Successful delegates will receive a certificate issued by the Safety Passport Alliance that will be valid for a three year period.
