Upon completion of this course, learner will be able to provide home and in-patient care.
Pre-requisite - complete SOHA Certificate in Caregiver Training course or equivalent (subject to successful passing of Entry Test)
COURSE CONTENT
The topic covered include:
- Orientate resident to eldercare facility
- Observe and document nursing assessment
- Assist in physical examination
- Attend to inquiries
- Don and don off PPE
- Assessment tools and data collection
- Maintain good body mechanics
- Pain assessment and management
- Collection of specimens and perform urine test
- Waste management
- Disinfection and sterilisation
- Assist in oxygen administration
- Assist with administration of nebular (nebulization of drugs)
- Instill eye, ear and nose drops
- Give cold packs/compress
- . Oral suction
- Render First Aid adn application of bandages
- Perform CPR
- Elder abuse
- Falls in the elderly
- The Dying person - comfort care
- Perform Last Offices
Upon completion of the course. voluntary attachments to nursing homes and VWOs will be arranged .
