Soccer Career and Development

Course details

This course is about continuing development of skills learned from a FETAC level 5 Sport & Recreation certification course. The aim of the course is to provide students with industry ready qualifications to obtain a sustainable career within Sport and Exercise Sciences. The Advanced Soccer course is unique because along with the FETAC level 6 award students can undertake ITEC Personal Trainer & Sport injury massage within the Advanced Soccer career and development.

Course modules

FETAC Level 6 modules:

• Sports Coaching (Compulsory)
• Sports Community Development (Compulsory)
• Sports Nutrition
• Sport Psychology
• Holistic Massage
• Personal Development
• Business Management

ITEC Level 3 modules:

• Sport Injury Massage
• Sport Injuries
• Rehabilitation
• Observation

How do I get in?

It is Compulsory that potential candidates have at least a FETAC level 5 certificate in Sport & Recreation (or a relevant third level qualification). Experience and interest in soccer is essential. The student will be required to perform a practical interview on sport competencies and a formal interview with the course co-ordinator. Successful completion of the Leaving Certificate is desirable but not essential.

Upon completion of the course students will have industry ready qualifications to obtain a career in Sport & Exercise. It will also equip students to seek further education on a Level 7 Degree course on the national framework of qualifications.
