Course details

This is a one & a half hour course giving learners information & awareness on the safe use of sling & hoists as part of their normal work duties.

Course Objectives:

On completion of this course, the learners will;

  • Be aware of the employers & employees duties under current health & safety legislation
  • Operate a sling & hoist safely
  • Conduct safety checks on slings & hoists
  • Understand the responsibilities of the person using slings & hoists
  • Identify possible workplace hazards (e.g. Overhead cables)

Course Programme:

  • Duties imposed under current health & safety legislation in relation to operating slings & hoists
  • Explanation, demonstration & practice in the correct procedures to adopt when operating slings & hoists
  • Pre-use safety checks / inspection
  • Safe operating practices
  • Correct Personal Protective Equipment selection, inspection & correct use

Training Methods:

Classroom presentation on power-point; There is a short demonstration by our experienced instructor.

Who should attend?

Those who operate Slings & Hoists as part of their normal work activities.

Additional Information:

  • Maximum of 12 learners
  • Learners must bring with them their own Personal Protective Equipment. (i.e. Overalls, helmet, high visibility jacket & safety footwear)
