About the CourseThe Six Sigma Green Belt Certification course developed exclusively for the REI is designed to give the student a solid understanding of Six Sigma principles and teach you how to effectively work within a Six Sigma ; Learn to improve quality and reduce defects within your organization.
Six Sigma Green Belts should have a good understanding of the DMAIC process and an understanding of how process changes can be implemented. They work directly with Black Belts to define processes within their ; They begin by determining who is the owner of the process they are working to improve. Six Sigma focuses on measuring and quantifying the impact of an improvement project. It requires buy-in across the business for the project to make changes based upon those measurements irrespective of personal views. Guesswork and assumptions have no place, it is a precise process.
The goal of the Management and Strategy Institute is to teach you the key competencies required to function in the role of a Six Sigma Green Belt. As you go through the training material you will learn the competencies listed below.
The SSGBC exam is a timed, online exam. It consists of approximately 65 questions and has a required passing score of 70%.

• Why is Six Sigma used in business, and where did it come from. o Learning Outcome: The Student will be able to define Six Sigma

TQM & others
• Discuss other process improvement methodologies o Learning Outcome: Have an understanding of the other process improvement methodologies and how they differ from Six Sigma.
Recognizing opportunities
• Fundamentally, the training and use of Six Sigma philosophies and principles will allow employees and project teams to understand how systems interrelate and how to use the application of quality improvement methodologies which complement Six Sigma, such as Lean. o Learning Outcome: Understand Six Sigma philosophies and how to recognize opportunity.
Managing Quality
• Quality is not about what you produce being accurate as you see it, but rather as the customer sees it. Learning Outcome: Understand how to frame quality into what is important to the customer.
Deciding to start a Six Sigma project
• Six Sigma is a top-down methodology - that means that the decision to implement comes from the top - whether that is the top of the business, your division of the business, or some other production unit. o Learning Outcome: The student understands the "how and why" regarding a company launching a quality improvement initiative like Six Sigma.
Organizational Roles and Responsibilities

Eligibility / Requirements
Work Experience
Six Sigma Green Belts are employees who spend some of their time on process improvement teams. They analyze and solve quality problems, and are involved with Six Sigma, lean or other quality improvement projects.
The Six Sigma Green Belt certification requires three years of work experience in one or more areas of the Six Sigma Green Belt Body of Knowledge.
Candidates must have worked in a full-time, paid role. Paid intern, co-op or any other course work cannot be applied toward the work experience requirement.
Expectations
Here are the minimum expectations of a Certified Six Sigma Green Belt.
- Operates in support of or under the supervision of a Six Sigma Black Belt.
- Analyzes and solves quality problems.
- Involved in quality improvement projects.
- Participated in a project, but has not led a project.
- Has at least three years of work experience.
- Has ability to demonstrate their knowledge of Six Sigma tools and processes.
