Through a series of lectures, demonstrations and individual projects, learners are introduced to specific processes in silversmithing, including a variety of forming and joining method.

Course Outline

  • Introduction to silversmithing tools, equipment and techniques
  • Practice specific metalworking and silversmithing processes, and acquire the ability to select correct processes for various jewellery design tasks
  • Experiment with dye forming and Repousse on metal to create 3D forms
  • Gain competency in opening and closing methods to create hinges and clasps on jewelry pieces
  • Hands-on individual projects using silversmithing techniques
