Course details
You will learn how to influence peoples’ behaviour through modules such as health psychology, behaviour change using knowledge in nutrition, and exercise fundamentals. Some of the challenges that await you as a practitioner of health and wellness include youth obesity, active ageing, and workplace wellness.
You will take regular field trips, undertake practical work experience, and contribute to projects to help prepare you for a fulfilling career as a health professional in a workplace such as a hospital, school, or government agency.
Course Outcomes
- Gain a solid grounding in subjects such as psychology, human behaviour, physical activity, and nutrition
- Acquire the expertise to plan, organise, and conduct health-related events in the community
- Develop skills to conduct health and fitness assessments
- Learn to apply techniques for behavioural change and health promotion strategies
- Undergo a 16-week industry attachment programme with an established organisation such as the Health Promotion Board, Council for Third Age, Alliance Healthcare, or Dayspring Corporate Wellness
