- Duration: Upto 3 Years
Course details
The Diploma in Aerospace Avionics (DAA) will prepare you for a career in the high-tech domain of aerospace electronics. More specifically, you will get to know the various aircraft instrument systems, the intricate electrical systems, and avionics systems that make flying possible. You will gain first-hand experience in handling the flight instruments and controls found in an aircraft cockpit, as well as the auto-flight communication and navigation systems that keep an aircraft safe during flight.
This programme will allow you to pursue a path to becoming a certified aircraft maintenance engineer and eventually become well-versed in the field of aerospace avionics technologies. This programme allows you to have a head-start towards professional certification as the DAA curriculum conforms to the Singapore Airworthiness Requirements Part 66 (SAR-66), which is specified by the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore as a licensing requirement.
Course Outcomes
Be trained in the fundamentals of aerospace avionics, including aircraft electrical systems, instrumentation, avionics, and sensors
- Become familiar with industry standards and avionics system requirements
- Embark on the pathway to becoming a licensed aircraft maintenance engineer
- Undergo a 20-week Industry Immersion Programme with establishments such as Airbus Helicopters South East Asia, Rockwell Collins, Singapore Technologies Aerospace, and Thales Aerospace
Learning through Training
We believe in an all-rounded approach that imparts the necessary lifelong learning skills and not just the delivering of a comprehensive curriculum. Hence, the DAA course has included the critical cognitive thinking and communication skills together with its problem solving approach into the curriculum. Core competencies in avionics are enhanced with practical sessions in all its engineering modules being offered. The cross-disciplinary modules ensure that the mechanical aspects of engineering are not neglected as well.
Career Prospects
DAA graduates can embark on a variety of exciting careers in the MRO sector, as well as industries related to the design, development, manufacturing, and testing of aircraft flight components. You will be well prepared to take on roles such as:
- Licensed Aircraft Engineer (B2)
- Avionics System Specialist
- Avionics Engineer
- Avionics Equipment Test Engineer
- Assistant / Associate Engineer
