Course details
The subject covers waste sources, characteristics, generation, collection, transfer and transport as well as the various solid waste and hazardous waste treatment methods. Hazardous waste topics such as classification and waste minimization will be covered. Waste minimization through waste recycling, reuse and recovery will be emphasized.
Objectives
This subject aims to equip students with the basic knowledge and skills to:
- describe the importance of solid and hazardous waste characteristics.
- apply solid and hazardous waste treatment technologies in chemical, pharmaceutical as well as environment and water industries.
