This subject provides an overview of the early childhood care and education in Singapore. Students will explore the various approaches and models of early childhood care and education, as well as the social dynamics of learning in Singapore's early childhood context. In addition, students will also explore appropriate practices within the early childhood context.

Objectives

  • distinguish the variety of early childhood programmes in our mainstream, principles and practices that are common in early childhood settings.
  • relate to the philosophical beliefs of early childhood care and education that has evolved and support current practices.
  • give examples of quality and good practices that respect children's rights and the ethical codes for early childhood educators.
