The subject covers the classification of industrial wastewaters and the strategies for wastewater treatment to meet trade effluent standards and for resource recovery. The characteristics and treatment methodology for various industries like chemical, semiconductor, pharmaceutical, metal-plating etc. will be covered
Objectives
This subject aims to provide students with the basic knowledge and skills to:
- Explain the basic principles of unit operations in Industrial Wastewater Treatment (IWT).
- Apply the principles of IWT to effectively manage water treatment plants of the major local industries including the pharmaceutical industry, chemical industry, semiconductor industry and metal-plating industry etc.
