Course details
This subject provides basic knowledge and understanding of semiconductor materials, p-n junctions, different types of contacts to semiconductors and the Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor (MOS) capacitor. In addition, structures and operational features of integrated circuits such as logic and memory devices are also discussed. The subject also covers the fundamental aspects of Integrated Circuit (IC) layout design.
Objectives
The subject aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills to:
- explain the physics of solid and semiconductors materials.
- relate the properties of p-n junction to diode.
- apply the fundamental principle of MOS capacitor in MOSFET devices.
- draw the IC design layout of CMOS gate.
