    This course provides a broad-based knowledge of the pinning techniques on garments in order to facilitate garment alteration by sewing technicians.  Participant will be able to apply the proper methods of pinning the various parts of a garment to indicate the necessary adjustment required or desired, and this would also serve as a visual instructive to the sewing technician in implementing the garment alteration.

    This course is highly recommended for people who are involved in the fashion retail service sector to cater to the demand of customers who require clothing alterations or modifications to fit their body.  Participants will be involved in the active learning of garment fit evaluation and pinning for alteration through simulated samples and ready-made clothing.

    OBJECTIVES

    • Identify fit problems when garment is worn on a human body in accordance to industrial norms.
    • Analyze alteration requirements for the garment to rectify problems in accordance to industrial norms.
    • Apply proper pinning to the garment to indicate adjustments required.
    • Record adjustment requirements and comments for alteration by sewing technician.

    ENTRY REQUIREMENT

    Preferably possess 3 GCE “N” level passes including English and Mathematics or ES WSQ Workplace Literacy and Numeracy (WPLN) Level 4 and above.

    GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS

    Participant will be awarded the WSQ Statement of Attainment (SOA) provided he/she meets the following requirements:

    • 75% attendance rate
    • Assessed to be competent in given competency standard

    CERTIFICATE ISSUANCE

    Upon succcessful completion of the course, trainee will be awarded the WSQ Statement of Attainment (SOA). WSQ Certification is nationally endorsed and recognised by industry partners.
