    This course provides participants/ learners with practical foundation of pattern development and garment construction of basic bottoms and tops with variation of collars.

    Participants will learn to take body measurements, understand the relation of styles and ease allowance, develop paper patterns and construct garments. The participants will master the basic techniques of laying fabric, cutting, sewing, edging and finishing.

    OBJECTIVES

    • Draft basic paper pattern blocks for basic bottoms with given specifications.
    • Develop a variety of paper patterns for selected tops with collar and bottoms.
    • Learn to label and mark individual paper pattern pieces with symbols and notches.
    • Sew a collared, long-sleeved top against given specifications or measurements.
    • Sew a bottom with waistband finishing and fly opening against given specifications or measurements.
    • Evaluate sewn basic bottom and top against given specifications or measurements.
    • Take follow-up actions for non-conformance.

    ENTRY REQUIREMENT

    Possess at least 3 GCE “N” level credit including English and Mathematics or ES WSQ Workplace Literacy and Numeracy (WPLN) level 4 and above.

    Student needs prior knowledge / experience of following modules

    • WSQ Develop Apparel Patterns through Drafting and Sew Basic Tops and Skirt

    GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS

    Participant will be awarded the WSQ Statement of Attainment (SOA) provided he/she meets the following requirements:

    • 75% attendance rate
    • Assessed to be competent in given competency standard

    CERTIFICATE ISSUANCE

    Upon succcessful completion of the course, trainee will be awarded the WSQ Statement of Attainment (SOA). WSQ Certification is nationally endorsed and recognised by industry partners.
