OVERVIEW:
Learn how to draw correctly for storyboards and the rules involved in storyboarding. This class is more catered for those students who just want the technical skills of drawing in storyboarding. Story will be discussed, but we will mostly hone on drawing skills and learning efficient workflows to complete your job quickly and professionally.
TOPICS COVERED:
- Understanding basic/intermediate storyboarding rules
- Learn how to draw characters and poses that correctly demonstrate attitudes
- Drawing facial expressions and the importance of ACCURATE expressions
- Understanding how animation principles come into play of storyboarding
- Learn how to be efficient in your workflow (Tips and tricks)
- Drawing with appeal and understanding solid drawing
- Learn how to draw/design landscapes, props, and other things quickly
- Learning to draw with speed and quality
- Learn how to edit and composite animatics
- The importance of life drawing in storyboards
- Learn perspective and how to create the shot you desire
OUTCOME:
Students will learn how to get better at drawing for storyboards and be able to construct solid and believable characters. They will focus on honing their abilities to draw everything with appeal catered towards the styles of the major feature film studios and television studios. Students will also learn tips and tricks on how to make their workflows more efficient to produce quicker and higher quality boards. Students will be expected to finish one Final Storyboard Sequence.
TRAINER BIO:
Samantha Suyi Leeis a Story Artist presently working at One Animation. She was a big part of the story ideation and developmental process for the studio's hit series "Oddbods", which is currently airing on Disney, Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network and many other channels all over the world. She graduated with a BFA in Digital Animation, and her Final Year group project "Cloudy Conundrum" has won multiple short film animation awards.
Davis Vugraduated from California Institute of Arts with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Film/Video. Currently Davis teaches at Nanyang Technological University where he teaches storyboarding, drawn animation, applied drawing and foundation drawings. Davis's production portfolio includes "Yogi Bear", "G-Force", aka "Gatchaman". "Spongebob Squigglypants" and much more.
