The Code of Safe Working Practices 

  • Basic understanding of various rope work, knots, block and tackles including the break stress and SWL;
  •  Knowledge of various mooring arrangements, the functions of various mooring lines and anchors;
  •  Understand Emergency preparedness, respective associate procedures and appropriate checklists;
  •  Know the emergency signals and symbols, understand various drills been conducted onboard the ships;
  •  Understand the general use of LSA & FFA equipments ;
  •  Accident prevention and safe working practices.
  •  Understand the concept of Detailed Risk Assessment.
  •  Understand the importance of Planned Maintenance System and good housekeeping.
  •  Understand the various watch keeping procedures including when to call master as well as proper record keeping;
  •  Know the contents of NP100 (Mariner’s Handbook).
