Course details
The 1-day course will provide members of the Company Emergency Response Team(CERT) in the Public and Industrial premises (without or store below the exemption quantity of petroleum and flammable material) with the essential knowledge and application skills to function as a member of an emergency response team. It equips the team to implement the emergency response skills during a minor fire incident at their workplace. This training covers basic firefighting and procedures as a CERT member for workplaces that can be utilised during an emergency.
This is also a WSQ module accreditated by WDA.
Target Audience
- Response Team members and Site Incident Controller (SIC) from commercial, industrial and workplaces who are the first responders for incidents in premises classified as Public and industrial buildings without or store below the exemption quantity of petroleum and flammable materials. Persons who want to be recognised as a competent person applying emergency response skills during an emergency incident in workplaces.
Course Content
- Interpret emergency response legislations and guidelines
- Identify fire hazard scenarios and conduct situation assessment
- Demonstrate usage of fire protection systems in the workplace
- Respond to fire incidents using various extinguishing mediums
- Handover incident and provide operational assistance to the appropriate body
Certification
- Participants will be awarded a downloadable e-Statement of Attainment by WDA upon passing the assessment

About Association of Company Emergency Response Teams (Singapore)
Since the gazette of the Fire Safety (Petroleum & Flammable Materials) Regulations in 2005 and introduction of Company Emergency Response Team (CERT) requirements, a significant number of people in the workplaces have been trained to handle fire & other workplace emergencies. Timely intervention within the first few minutes of an incident is critical and often determined the outcome of the whole incident. A high number of workplace emergencies were effectively brought by under control by CERT before SCDF arrival. This has heightened the awareness within the business communities in the recognizing the importance of having an effective Emergency Response Team on site.
With the growing pool of trained emergency responders across all industries, an idea was mooted to establish a network and a platform for this unique community to come together and share their experiences.
The Association of Company Emergency Response Teams (Singapore) or “we_they” is established with support from Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF).
The Mission of we_they is to promote continual development, professionalism and excellence in the field of Emergency Response & Crisis Management. we_they will work with the relevant Government Agencies in the development and enhancement of programs and standards relating to emergency response. It will also create a platform to share valuable information & professional development opportunities for members
