Class Size
Class size: Maximum 70 for lecture, Maximum 40 per class for practical and tutorial lessons
Certification
Candidates who successfully complete all 16 units of this programme will be given the internationally recognised Pearson BTEC Level 5 HND Diploma in Business (Chinese) in Singapore, awarded by Pearson International (UK)
Award Criteria
1. To be awarded the Pearson BTEC Level 5 HND Diploma in Business (Chinese), the student must meet the award criteria below.
2. To be awarded the Pearson BTEC Level 5 HND Diploma in Business (Marketing) (Chinese), the student must meet the award criteria below. In addition, all specialist units in the Marketing Pathway must be successfully completed
3. To be awarded the Pearson BTEC Level 5 HND Diploma in Business (Management) (Chinese), the student must meet the award criteria below. In addition, all specialist units in the Management Pathway must be successfully completed
A 240-credit qualifications that consists eight (8) mandatory core units plust eight specialist units and/or general optional units that provide for a combined total of 240 credits. The rules of combination for this qualification are as specified as follows:
1. Qualification credit value: a minimum of 240 credits.
2. Minimum credits to be achieved at the level of the qualification (level 5): 125 credits.
3. Mandatory core units: 125 credits.
4. Specialist units: 115 credits.
Entry Requirements
The entry profile of qualifications and/or experience held by an applicant should show an ability to progress to a Pearson BTEC Level 4 or Level 5 qualification.
For learners who have recently been in education, the profile is likely to include one of following:
- Diploma
- Chinese Senior Secondary Year 3
- SMU 3
- GCE 'A' Levels 2 passes
- ITE Higher NITEC 2.5
- STPM 2 passes
- Vietnam Grade 12
- Any other equivalent qualification
Applicants with foreign qualifications equivalent to the above may be admitted.
All applicants should possess
1. a GCE 'O' Level pass in Chinese Language OR
2. equivalently a pass in Chinese Language at Junior High School Level OR
3. a PASS in Chinese Proficiency Assessment Test determined by the college.
Those who fail the Chinese Proficiency Assessment Test will be required to successfully complete an appropriate Chinese Language course conducted by the College.
The Pearson BTEC Higher National qualifications are accredited on the QCF for learners aged 18 and above.
More mature learners may present a more varied profile of achievement that is likely to include extensive work experience of paid and/or unpaid employment and/or achievement of a range of professional qualifications in their work sector.
Lectures/Tutorials
The course is mainly conducted in the classroom via face-to-face learning which encourages student-teacher interaction. Students are encouraged to attend field trips and bazaars organised by the school to encourage experiential learning.
Assessment
This course is assessed by outcome-based coursework which involves doing a report, presentation or project work
