Course details
The Music Preparatory Course is designed especially for students who wish to develop their instrumental foundation and music theory knowledge, prior Diploma in Music programme.
- Instrumental Tuition (Principal Study) - Students will attend weekly inpidual lessons with selected professional musicians. These specialist tutors will help the student develop a strong and solid technique along with preparation of repertoire.
- Music Appreciation - Covers basic musical form, lives and works of leading composers and gives a timeline view of the development of western music history.
- Music Theory & Aural Training - Although many young musicians have good practical skills, many lack a formal music theory foundation. This short course will cover all basics in music theory.
What will I learn?
At the end of this course, students will learn how to:
- Demonstrate the establishment of firm technical foundation through the presentation of the required musical works
- Communicate musical understanding of the required musical works through performance or in Composition Portfolio Interview
- Establish the foundation of pitch accuracy, chord recognition, rhythmic understanding and memory
- Develop an ability to read music and sight-sing
