Objective

The aim of this introductory course in Traditional Chinese Medicine is to enable people to learn the basics of TCM and use the knowledge on oneself to maintain good health.

Course Modules

1. Basic of TCM

Study human body internal organs, Yin-Yang and five elements, fine blood fluid contents. Study how the Yin-Yang and five elements are related to our internal organs and which internal organ is overworked or damaged when body appears certain symptoms.

2. Traditional Materia Medica

According to the ancient TCM herbs database there are almost 12800 herbs. However, we will only need to learn around 200 common herbs, and that is enough to cure hundreds of illnesses. So we have to learn and grasp the basics of TCM and TCM Diagnostic, use the right herb to cure sickness or enhance our health level.

3. TCM Diagnostics

The essence of TCM, Look-Sniff-Ask-Palpation, study how to observe face colour, status and tongue, sniff the breath and its smell. Learn to ask and know about the problem origin. Palpate and evaluate pulse to diagnose which internal organ is weak and the physical health of the whole body.  After diagnosis, we will start to prescribe medication according to our TCM basics and Traditional Material medical knowledge.

4. TCM Pharmacology

Over centuries, passed down from our ancestors are different herb combinations compounded into different medication to cure different diseases. Now there are plenty of TCM medicine products in the market. The important thing in this subject is to learn how to compound a medication that suits your personal physical body. In addition, you are able to cure some minor sickness like flu, cough or joint pain, etc after this course.
