Course details
This short course examines the strategic and organizational issues of business process design, workflow management, and the use of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERPs) to realize efficient processes. It also describes the major strategic approaches to implementation, process modeling techniques, and the current possibilities offered by ERPs. Students will learn techniques used to identify, reorganize and implement business processes in a typical business organization. SAP R/3 is used an example of ERP software that students are likely to encounter

This modular course includes the following topics:
- Introduction to Business Process Orientation
- Work Flow Models
- Process Management - EPCs (Event-Driven Process Chains)
- "As Is" and "To Be" Modelling Pitfalls of Process Modelling
- Business Process Modeling Notation
- Data Modelling & Business Objects Workflow Management Systems
- Designing SAP Workflows
- Organisational Plans, SAP WF Development Procedures
- Business Objects & Containers Workflow
- XML, EDI and Workflow
Course Modules
Students will acquire the knowledge and skills needed to:
- Describe the changing business environment
- Identify the importance of applying Business Process Engineering concepts to respond to changing business environment.
- Model a process using BPMN.
- Identify actors and workflow in a business process
- Implement a workflow using SAP Web flow.
- Design an organizational plan to support a workflow
- Discuss the usefulness of automated workflows for monitoring and controlling business processes.

Upon successful completion of this module students will be issued with following SOAs:
- IT-IA-505S-1 Design Business Architecture
- SAP Alliance Certificate offered by Victoria University and SAP Australia

Education Pathway
Graduates who wish to pursue Masters of Business (ERP Systems) will get an exemption for 1 module.
Graduation Requirements
Students must successfully pass or deemed Competent (C) in assessments. Student upon failing will need to take the module again. An additional charge applies in such cases.
