Course details

The modules under Certificate in Retail Operations are developed for retail professionals at the operation level, who require basic knowledge and skills, and function within specific frontline work responsibilities.

These include:

  • Retail/Sales Assistants
  • Customer Service Executives/Assistants
  • Cashiers
  • Packers
  • Operations Executives/Assistants
  • Service Attendants
  • Store Keeper/Assistants
  • Visual Merchandising Executives

To qualify for a WSQ Certificate in Retail Operations, a participant needs to complete and pass: 

  • 3 core modules, and 
  • 5 elective modules

  • Apply Colour Theory 
  • Apply Security Practices 
  • Cultivate Productivity and Innovative Mindset 
  • Handle Merchandise Display 
  • Handle Retail After Sales Services 
  • Perform Point of Sales Operations 
  • Perform Product Demonstration 
  • Perform Stock Control Operations 
  • Provide Advice on Fashion & Apparels 
  • Provide Advice on Footwear 
  • Provide Advice on Furniture Products 
  • Work Effectively in the Retail Environment 
  • Comply with Workplace Safety and Health Policies and Procedures* 
  • Implement Operations for Service Excellence* 
  • Provide Go-the-Extra-Mile Service*
  • Respond to Service Challenges* 
  • Work in a perse Service Environment* 

* Participant may select only one of the five modules as an elective module.

Alternatively, inpiduals may choose to learn certain module or a collection of modules relevant to needs or occupation. A WSQ Statement of Attainment (SOA) will be awarded upon the completion of each training module and passing the required assessments.

This programme is available in Mandarin.

Entry Requirements 

  • GCE 'N' Level Credit (at least C5) in English and Mathematics or Workplace Literacy and Numeracy (WPLN) score: Level 3 for Reading, Listening and Numeracy; and
  • Currently working in retail sector or unemployed, and have or had at least 1 year of retail working experience, in addition to meeting the admission requirements; or
  • Currently working in non-retail sector or unemployed, and have or had at least 2 years of working experience, in addition to meeting the admission requirements.
