Course Objectives
The course is to provide students a platform to acquire strong language proficiency and its application of Business English Language in the world beyond the school in a range of contexts. It aims to prepare students for further education and training, as well as for a career in business.
Who Will Benefit From The Course
This course is catered for students with an IELTS banding equivalent of 5 to 6. It is designed to prepare students who do not have the required proficiency level of English Language for further education and training, as well as for a career in business.
Teaching Methodology
- Face-to-face (classroom mode)
- The method of teaching may consist of multiple delivery dimensions like classroom lectures, group discussions, practical exercises and other business games, role-plays, seminars and teamwork.
Assessments and Examinations
- This assessment will test at a higher level of the linguistic skills and business knowledge that covered in the Certificate of Business English. The end of the course, it assesses students' skill in Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing in English:
Listening (A Reading ability at the equivalent level in English for Business is needed)
It assesses students' understanding of standard speech encountered in work and everyday situtations and factual information that they have listened to.
The listening assessment may be conducted and completed with a single group of candidates, or a number of assessments my be carried out simultaneously but in different rooms.
- The assessment is set in multiple-choice questions.
- The assessment has two (2) parts.
Speaking (Listening and Reading abilities at the equivalent level in English for Business are needed)
- It commences with "break the ice" session, where the Assessor/Examiner asks the candidates some personal questions.
- Candidates will be assessed on their ability to express themselves orally in a discussion on business
- related or professional matters.
- The Speaking Assessment may be recorded as part of the moderation evidence.
Reading and Writing
The assessment has three (3) tasks that assesses the below:
- Linguistic proficiency level on task achievement, organisation and grammatical structure.
- Reading and comprehending an article and producing a piece of business writing related to this text.
- Extending and producing completed texts in a range of contrasting genres/forms.
Graduation Requirements
Minimum achievement result of IELTS Band 6 or its equivalent.
