Course details
This course introduces the basic techniques and aesthetics in printmaking with an emphasis on workshop practice. Students will have the opportunity to explore and experiment with basic printmaking techniques and processes through a series of lectures, demonstrations and studio practices. Class critiques and discussions will be conducted after every exercise to clarify, develop and expand on the skills and knowledge acquired. It also aims to promote printmaking as a creative process of generating ideas in contemporary art practices.
Terms and conditions
- Students will be presented a Certificate upon successful completion of all 4 short courses and passing all required assessment.
COURSE MODULES
Printmaking 1- Learning of Basic Printmaking
Introduction to printmaking techniques; Relief, Intaglio, Serigraphy, Lithography, Combining technique and computer print.
Printmaking 2- Etching
Learning of hard & soft ground etching, etching with Aquatint and etching with sugar lift.
Printmaking 3- Silkscreen Printing 1 (Techniques)
Exploration of positive / negative printed images and painterly effect on silkscreen printing.
Printmaking 4- Silkscreen Printing 2 (Projects)
An introduction to photo silkscreen II - using photo/digital photo positives.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must be 17 years old & above.
Prerequisites for registration of short courses
- For Printmaking 2 , applicants need to complete Printmaking 1 (within a year)
- For Printmaking 3, applicants need to complete Printmaking 1 & 2 (within a year)
- For Printmaking 4, applicants need to complete Printmaking 1,2 & 3 (within a year)
