Course details

The courses are designed for students to acquire fundamental skills to integrate creativity in Motion Pictures & Effects, which will serve as a good foundation for the thriving industry in entertainment. Students are trained in conventional animation & effects which moved on to digital imaging and design in motion pictures & effects.

Terms and conditions

  • Students will be presented a Certificate upon successful completion of all 4 short courses and passing all required assessment.

COURSE MODULES

Motion Pictures & Effects 1 - Conventional Animation 

This course offers hands-on production of traditional animation and provides the fundamental knowledge of animation conceptualization and basic storyboarding. The students will be introduced to the various traditional animation styles and techniques. In addition, students will also be exposed to the stages of producing an animation - pre-production and production. Students will demonstrate the understanding through the execution of a series of hands on exercises and a project.

Motion Pictures & Effects 2 - Conventional Effects / Composition 

This course offers hands-on production of special effects and provides the fundamental knowledge of compositing conceptualization, basic mood framing and production of traditional visual effects. The students will be introduced to the various traditional special effects styles and techniques. In addition, students will also be exposed to the stages of producing a motion effects project - preparation to production. Students will demonstrate the understanding through the execution of a series of hands on exercises and a project.

Motion Pictures & Effects 3 - Digital Animation

This is an introduction to the production of animation and exploration of combining traditional and digital techniques in animation. The aim of this short course is to cultivate students on their spirit of experimentation of mixing traditional and digital techniques, using physical items with digital imaging software, trusting their “what-if”, understand the importance of creativity in animation and learn to apply the results of experiments in the creation of finished works.

Motion Pictures & Effects 4 - Digital Effects / Composition

This short course offers hands-on of compositing effects and exploration of combining traditional and digital techniques in visual effects. The aim of this course is to cultivate students on their spirit of experimentation of mixing traditional and digital techniques, using digital imaging software, to understand the cinematography of creativity in effects and learn to apply the results of experiments in the creation of finished works.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must be 17 years old & above.

Prerequisites for registration of short courses

  • For Motion Pictures & Effects 3 & 4, applicants need to complete Motion Pictures & Effects 1 & 2
